August Colours

Green was the silence, wet was the light.

Challenge filled with fall inspired palette & a thought about rain.

Inspired by the wet quote - a wedding in the rain.

My favourite part was spraying the Snipart irregular background chipboard with Tim Holtz Honey distress ink, and adding clear embossing powder whist it was still wet. It has given a beautiful effect of rain, as only parts of the lattice have retained the gloss.

Using only products from my craftbox stash.

Finished with ivory, yellow and teal blooms.

Thank you for lookig, I read all your comments,

Precious memories

12 Juy 2017 - [not placed]

June colours

The first month of summer is here with lots of time in the sun. We hope that you behind relaxation, summer parties and time soaking up the sun have time to create something for our June Challenge

The best ice cream in the world can be found from Gelato at 355 Corso Vittorio Emanuelle II, Rome.

Best served after a long walk around St Peter Basilica, the Sistine chapel and the bridge of Bernini Angels.

Seconded only by the deserts now available in the Uk from Sprinkles Gelato chain.

Precious Memories

The delicate pastels of the colour palette produce a lovely open airy layout whee texture can be highlighted.

The background texture is from a recycled chocolate box packaging, looking similar in texture to a cornet/ ice cream cone.

Using blue and pink sparkle mediums through a lattice stencil created a variation on this texture.

The top of the primary photograph has been finished in sparkles and glitters applied to a strip of double sided tape. Apply largest to smallest sparkles to ensure all tacky spaces are filled.

This ice cream is for adult only, so i found the warning form a medication box quite an amusing ouch to imply this.

The stamped journaling is quite messy.but the final effect works well on this layout.

Thank you for looking

Dads decorators brush

20 May 2017

May board

Spring is a time for weddings but we celebrate long, lasting love & rust this month

Dads decorators brush for design team call

Celebrating the long lasting love of a daughter for her father on national fathers day.

My father is a draughtsman but also a home decorator, and this mixed media project celebrates his decorating skill.

The patina effect is one of my favourite ageing effects. My father owns many rusted and patina items in his shed, a child's joy is spending a weekend sorting jars of rusty nails for her dad.

Although there are many ready made patina effect paints available, this one is made with sand and appropriate coloured chalk effect acrylic paints.

Thank you for looking

Perfectly imprefect pink

07 May 2017 [not placed]

Aprils board includes girly colors and a little bit of sparkle.

The quote comes from the fitness/lifestyle gury Heidi Powell.

This 8x8 card featuring many layers and textures in girly pinks with a little bit of sparkle.

I was inspired by the challenge graphic itself where the colour swatches are dangling from their clips in a vertical format, and the cut of the colour swatch ribbons.

I have incorporated this in the vertical dangling of the leaves, ribbon, bead charm and vertical corrugated card frame.

The perfect/ imperfect quote inspired me towards a grunge shabby chic approach to making this card.

Thank you for looking, please leave a comment

The girly pink background was created on a white watercolour paper with a resist spray.  Two shades of pink distress stain were applied, the die cut added and a primary frame added in pink.

More layers, floral's and cheesecloth textures were added to complete the card.
