Create - allow your soul to grow

12 September 2017

Welcome to September ...
This month we feature this really gorgeous colour called SOUL PEA -  can't wait to see what you can do with this snazzy little colour!

and just to inspire you a little more - how about this moodboard to grab your attention.

Create - allow your soul to grow

This is such a delicate colour it was a real pleasure to work with.  I couldn't find an RGB code for the colour but as it printed out a beautiful mint I worked with that.  The macaroons looked so fresh and appealing.

As I have green eyes myself I worked a gree eyed soulful look, matching it to a Marta small saying sticker.

The telephone dialer made a beautiful and different picture frame with apertures to fill with tangled string, lime ombre beads or flowers.  The dominant shape is the circle.

All the flowers began white and were tinted using the wet in wet technique and mica mist mix.

As I didn't have a mint colour (shopping spree coming on) I mixed a grass green with a pale teal to create the mint colour required.

Thank you for looking, I read all your beautiful comments

hugs

debbie

09 August 2017 [not placed]

Welcome to August

This month we feature something a little different with SILVER LIGHT - we'll be watching closely to see what you can all do with this colour!

We hope you like our inclusion of a sketch courtesy of PageMaps to help inspire you further.  You don't have to use this to put in an entry but we'd love it if you do :-)

Grow

Plant your own garden of happiness

Working with glitter and shiny silver papers.

I rotated the sketch and stuck pretty much to its layout as I was using printed papers, texture paste, superfine glitter and layering.

The Sara Davies lattice die cut breaks up beautifully, and punched from Centura silver pearl paper its strong enough to take a little tearing.

The papers I used have encapsulated glitters and I found a silver leaf in the bottom of my collection.

I brought that resin flower about 10 years ago, but loved it so much I didnt want to use it, with its silver swirl centre it has found a perfect home on this layout.

I finished the layout with more sparkly crystal chips and some stamping in London Fog ink.

Thank you for looking, I read all your comments

When you love what you have

18 July 2017 [not placed]

Welcome to July ...
This month we feature the very pretty LAVENDER LANE - we can't wait to see what you do with this gorgeous colour!
and just to inspire you a little more - how about this moodboard to grab your attention.

If you look at my work regularly you will probably noticed that I tend to fill all the spaces on the page, almost as if I am afraid of whitespace

Its true, white space  plays such an important part of the design but I never know what to do with it.

This is why I love the 'white with' challenges, they make me concentrate on the white space, literally.

Playing in lavender fields, with images, textures and layering.

The heart shapes on the moodbaord inspired the use of a heart shaped resin frame, and i have some lovely 2D lavender decoupage elements.

This layout also smells of lavender, the reason why ...

I used the glass balls from a reed diffuser and allowed then to roll about in the puddle of lavender spray under the lattice element to make random background patterns.

Thank you for looking, I read all your comments,

hugs

Debbie

Memories

10 June 2017

Welcome to June ...
This month we feature TEAL SEQUINS and I think you are going to love working with this colour, it's scrumptious!

The steampunk inspired teal layout was requested by my husband following the design of 'Portrait of my father - a very extraordinary gentleman'

He asked me to steampunk his first camera, a Kodak colourburst 50, but in hindsight it lacked the appeal of a traditional SLR camera.  I retained some of the design elements and continued with the design.

Whilst we were de-cluttering we found an old photograph from 2008, one of a very few of us together, perfect for this memories layout.

Lots of chipboard elements were used to add interest to this layout, finished with some beautiful Craftbox special edition teal and opal flakes.

The tubes are recycled drinking straws with beads in the ends, to add an interactive element the clear straw was filled with seed beads, micro-beads and glitter.

My husband loves this layout, both style and finished project.

06 May 2017 [not placed]

This month (May) we feature a classic combination of colours - a little ying and yang if you like.

We hope you like the many possibilities DEEP BLACK might offer you.

See all the entries for the monthly LAYOUT ONLY challenge that uses the basic colour scheme of white with ... 1 other

This layout was inspired by the additional moodboard which mentioned black cats.

This is our black cat, sat at the patio door watching the rain.

Working in a limited palette focuses the layout on shape and texture, as does a classic black and white art photograph.

The rain drops and runnels inspired the inking on the background and the use of teardrop shaped crystals.

The textures on this layout include; lace, ink drops, cheese cloth, wood grain and gloss embossing.

All the white embellishments have unique properties.

The paper orchid flower contrasts with pearlescent resin rose.

The leaves have been punched from dictionary paper and edged in black.

A touch of elegance has been added by using crystals, polaris stone and recycled jewellery.

Seed beads and glitter add the fine delicate details.

I really enjoyed exploring texture for this project.

Thank you for looking,

hugs

debbie
