Believe tag book cover

I was very inspired by the colourful water droplets and the book pages for this project.

I recycled old dictionary pages and handmade glitter drops unique to this project.

I created tissue paper texture areas and layered sections to enhance the large oval art pebble highlighting the dictionary definition of 'believe', mounted in a frame for emphasis.

Lots of sparkle was added with sequins and microbeads and some delicate clusters of paper blooms.

The silver key charm is looped through with art fibres.

Beautiful life together

30 July 2017

Mixed media moodboard July 2017

Summer is in full swing and most of us has left already or soon will leave for vacation. We hope you find some time to join our current challenge - relaxed, refreshed and inspired :)

A beautiful life together ATC

The word 'beautiful' jumped out at me from the moodboard.  The most beautiful thing in my life is my marriage. I had a lovely piece of packaging from Trimcraft A Beautiful Life just waiting to be used, the perfect scale to make an ATC.

I tried to keep this project simple ad wondered how much media do you have to use to qualify as a mixed-media project?

I chose the clean cream and green colour palette with dusty pink floral highlights.

The windows suggested latticework for which I was able to use my favourite snip art, the irregular background, kept natural but finished in clear ultra thick embossing powder for a glassy finish.

Thank you for looking, I read all your comments,

Mixedmedia moodboard June 2017

Who doesn't love being in the nature? So much inspiration comes from flowers, trees, birds, butterflies, fairies, sky... And the colors - so beautiful, sometimes so vibrant, and sometimes very pale or pastel. With our current moodboard we would like not only to inspire you, so you create any scrapbooking project and enter our challenge - we would like also to inspire you to go out, take a deep breath and feel the air, see trees, sky, sun, butterflies, ladybirds, flowers around, green grass and the living mother Earth. Notice her and the abundance of everything, she offers us.

Believe in happily ever after memory box

The beautiful blue green colouring of this moodboard inspired me to give my new Tattered Angels Naturally aged bare metal set a go.  The effect is not as green as I wanted but the bride to be is a fan of blue.

The dandelion seed head is my favourite flower, and as well as stamping in white embossing, I made a few from embroidery thread to scatter around the layout.

I used white floral accents as inspired by the blooms in jars image on the moodboard.

This project was create don a recycled chocolate box and is part card and part memory album and shadow box, with the inside sectioned and decorated.

Love is pink

23 May 2017

Mixed Media Place moodboard May 2017

May and June are months filled with sunny weather, strawberries, going outside, staring at the stars... We are tend to wear pastel or bright colours and usually we laugh more usually. Our moodboard reflects all of these :)

Feel free to be inspired by theme, shape, pattern, color, quote or anything you will find above, and join our challenge :)

This beautiful delicate moodboard inspired me in so many ways, which is very unusual as I am not a pink person.

I was immediately struck by the title of the board being 'love', knowing that I has some chipboard words I could use.

The colour palate suggested was pink, white and green, so beautiful together.

The garland and the hair decoration inspired the amazing use of 16 paper flowers, 11 leaves and 9 sugar stamens in this layout, somewhat of a first for the craft hoarder :-)

The predominant shapes of circle and square were also inspired by the moodboard. These were achieved by using chipboard and recycled card shapes in the texture layer.

I aimed for a calm and organised image, but settled with this floral pink beauty result.

I completed the arrangement with glitter and 9 gems for added sparkle.

2 forever

05 May 2017 [not placed or featured]

Mixed Media Place moodboard April 2017

This light and airy Mixed Media Place moodboard has inspired me to make a 6x6 ‘white album’
This ‘2forever’ layout is a page.

I was inspired by there being 2; rings, stools, feet.
The moodboard inspired texture, vertical lines and irregular horizontal edges.

I was also inspired by the old square box containing the rings. My pages have to provide a place for a photograph and journaling, by incorporating this design element I made a small magnetic book-fold with frame on the front.  Its dark colours provided a visual contrast on the largely white layout.

The colours white, blue and teal stood out for me.

Detail images of the finished layout:

The horizontal lines were made using black gesso and clear gesso on the edge of a ruler pressed onto the page.
All the flowers are handmade due to the scale of the page, I had much fun using the ombre technique onthe petals.

The background stencil was also used to emboss the coloured paper layers.
Very enjoyable challenge.
