August moodboard challenge

Hi friends! We want to present you a new and interesting moodboard!

We hope that you have already had time to relax and enjoy the sun. Summer is a wonderful time for charging with new ideas, inspiration and attitude. And today we offer to inspire a world of green forest, mystery and magic. You can make any work in the style of mixed-media, most importantly, specify in the description what inspired you: like;sketch, elements, colour, text, shapes, textures, material and maybe all at once!

Enchanted - Make today count

A forest wedding inspired layout featuring handmade faerie lanterns.

For this layout I was inspired by the forest and the tree embrace, to find a photograph of a couple kissing under a tree which I fussy cut to extend onto the layout.

The view down between the columns on the moodboard inspired the use of layers to matt the photograph.

I especialy loved the the little bottled scene on the moodboard which inspired the faerie lanterns and the half mason jar with the title inside.

The distressed white iron garden furniture inspired me to use some die cut lattice I have and to distress it with ground espresso distress ink.

Other colours in harmony with the green include the mustard yellow of the 7dots background paper and the navy blue in the brides bouquet.

I really enjoyed this layout, especially making the faerie lanterns:

I used clear straws and copper wire, with recyled end caps and beads.

Inside the straw I coiled the excess wire and added zillions for effect.

Thank you for looking, I read all your comments,

hugs

debbie

Moodboard challenge

This time we propose to open with a world of tenderness, calm and flight of thought. You can make any work in the style of mixed-media, most importantly, specify in the description what inspired you: like sketch, elements, colour, text, shapes, textures, material  and maybe all at once!

I adored the muted delicate colours in the angelic moodboard presented for consideration this month.

The worn paint brushes caught my eye at the same time as a brush of mine was so glued up it was ready for use on a project.

I worked feather in three styles; creating a wing from white feathers encapsulated in lamination, on top a metal wing coloured and waxed, and below that a small feather to add a floaty soft tactile element.

I loved the little circle pendants on the moodboard which inspired me to use 'candi' circles and sequins on the final layout.

I kept the colours soft and in the blue grey scale.

This layout is the front cover of a sample album containing the best of my recent challenges.

Thank you for looking,

Moodboard challenge

Hi friends! We want to present you a new and interesting moodboard!
You can make any work in the style of mixed-media, most importantly, specify in the description what inspired you: like sketch, elements, colour, text, shapes, textures, material  and maybe all at once!

This yellow themed moodboard empowered me to create a layout from scratch using items from only the scraps box.

Various textures are inspired from the images in the moodboard, curled over edges, bark, crackle, lattice and corrugations.

The circle and an industrial theme inspired the use of old buttons, stray clock hands, beads and circle stamping.

Yellow is the colour of happiness. Here the yellow is accented with white and black.

Thank you for looking,

I read all your comments

Hugs

Debbie

Secret Garden 6x4 mini album cover

01 June 2017

This month we propose to do any small-form work on the theme "Architecture". We are sure that the theme of textures, locks, buildings will give you a big push in creativity.

Secret Garden 6x4 mini album cover

It is almost as if this challenge was written for me.

I was looking for inspiration for the cover of a new 6x4 inch album I am working on, in the theme of lavander and wildflowers.

An I love, love, love architecture and texture.

Out came the paints from the greens pallate, and a plethora of ideas on creating texture for this little postcard sized layout.

I had in my stash a little wooden door embelishment, some IOD keyhole resins and a handful of ideas.

I have gone for a series of contrasts on this texture rich project; gloss and matt, shimmer and sparkle, rough and smooth, crackle and wood grain, gilded and varnished, corrugated and layered card, paint and spray colour, highlights and shadows.

Details of the textured techniques;
