16 September 2017

This month (september 2017) we hope you will be as inspired by these beautiful patina inspired colors.
Here is this month’s Challenge graphic for your inspiration and if you’d like a little extra assignment, we challenge you to add ‘A QUOTE’ somewhere on your creation!

Heal the world one random act of kindness at a time

For this challenge I wanted to do something completely different.  The graphic of the car reminded me of my random act of kindness this summer.

I wanted the title to be a number plate but the alpha set I used didn't contain numbers so I had to change them digitally (see below).

I began the project with some recycled packaging and a tea spoon.

I built this lovely mixed media project from that, adding a variety of geometric chipboard shapes, resins and metal embellishments and concentrated on 2 colours, using the others as accents, highlights or shadows.

I visited the least loved drawer of peach to brown coloured flowers to select Orange creamsicle florals.

I finished the piece with glimmer and sparkle.

I made the quote up myself.

Thank you for looking, I read all your lovely comments

Lindys August 2017

Here is this month’s Challenge graphic for your inspiration and if you’d like a little extra assignment, we challenge you to add ‘STAMPING’ somewhere on your creation!

Relax - you are exactly where you need to be

This layout was constructed in reverse, starting with a large tag with bristle texture, mounted on pale pink paper with additional stamping. Finally mounted on relaxing water music paper.

I used the magicals pigment powders to add colour over the bristle texture tag, and found a close match to Open Arms Amethyst in my paper collection for the layering.

The background coloured paper closely matched Chateau Rose, to keep within the colour palette.

I stamped Gabi's line stitch and some script on the pink background paper, and additional music score on the manuscript background paper.

I chose delicate pink blooms from my collection to finish the layout and added pale pink beads and silver microbeads.

A jar full of memories

18 July 2017

Lindys July colour challenge

We hope our ode to summer is great inspiration for you this month!

  • Bachelor Button Blue
  • Bells of Ireland Green
  • Mission Bells Brown
  • Peony Scarlet Red
  • Yellow Rose of Texas

A beautiful bright and zingy inspiration graphic and colour palette for this month, very inspiring.

Result? A rather fussy interpretation of the mason jars in the inspiration image.  Also quite surprised that the colours specified are not as bright in actual life.  I used magical's to colour the silk ribbon and paper blooms as well as in the clear texture paste through the honeycomb stencil on the background.

I printed a mason jar on acetate and backed the lid with transfer foil.  This gave me three layers to place beads and blooms; inside, beside and on top of the acetate.

This was all assembled on a tag behind which are 3 6x2inch bookmarks for journaling the memories to place in the jar.

The concept was good but I may have overworked it.

Lindys June colour challenge

FEELS LIKE SUMMER!!!  Our June inspiration gets you in the mood for a little summer fun!

  • South Shore sand
  • Pegleg pete purple
  • Bonjour Butter
  • Alpine Ice Rose
  • Shabby Turbine Teal

I was inspired by the fair ground theme, the circle, time and vintage.

I was particular drawn to the Bonjour Butter creamy buttercup yellow, surprised that it was not as vintage looking as the swatch on the graphic.

I complimented it with South Shore sand and Alpine Ice, all on Stamperia Vintage Rose background paper.

I found that some of the spray run off onto tissue paper made an excellent tissue transfer and used this to place the colours exactly where I wanted them. I found that dropping white acrylic over them the tissue colours did not bleed through.

Using Bonjour Butter magical pigment on pale yellow punched petals gace a beautiful ombre effect for somebeautiful floral embelishments.

I found an image of a bride on a carousel horse, and gave it a sepia tone to correspond with the background paper and the South shore sand magical powder mixed with medium through a circles stencil.  I extended the horse poles onto the layout using thin strips of white card.

I am not a great fan of yellow, but am very pleased with the colour combination. Challenges help to push you out of your safe zone and try techniques and colour combinations you would not normally consider.

Thank you for a lovely June challenge

Lindy’s May Color Challenge

  • creme brulee cream
  • sea grass green
  • pop rock purple
  • midnight rendezvous
  • tilt-a-wheel teal

closes 31 May 2017

I was inspired by the graphic this month as it fitted neatly with my current 6x4 album;

The door suggested post and post cards and i loved the twisting wisteria frame.

I was surprised to find that I actually own all but one of the colours in this months challenge in Lindys startburst sprays or magicals pigment powder.

Rumaging through the scraps drawer I found Carol Wilson Fine arts inc SCP131c paper with a lovely mint background and lavender floral's, and a beautiful white embossed design.

I used the Tim Holtz 'post card' stamp and a script stamp for the background. I normally work left to right, but the text had a left slant so i tried something new working in the right hand corner for the photograph, raised and matted on Screaming banshee and creme brulee layers.

I coloured the scrapiniec chipboard element using tilt a wheel magicals and sealed with clear embossing.

The tiny envelopes were sprayed with seagrass green and creme brulee.

The tiny floral's were coloured using Pop rock magicals. One of the features of working at the tiny granular level is the unexpected colour results. I added some grains of tilt-a-wheel to push the colour back towards the wisteria lavender colour.

I love interpreting these colour challenges and expanding my skills and imaginative range.
