Pink card detail

This card was originally produced as an experiment in layering and texture, and I fell in love with the result. The card was given to the Intensive Care Staff at the Spire Hospital for looking after my husband after major spinal surgery.

Producing the background stage 1

To ensure a pure white spray effect I used a white card base and randomly sprayed with clear resist glue

Using a brush I applied the victorian velvet Tim Holtz distress ink to the background

For detail I stamped in victorain velvet Tim Holtz distress ink the Kaisercraft Clear Stamp - Botanical featuring butterflies and text

Producing the background stage 2

I mounted the stage 1 background behind a 1 inch pale pink frame mount allowing some of the white to show to give a blurred edge

I addedd the Tattered lace heart - Heartfelt tapestry  die cut in white

I mounted the complete background onto the card allowing a 3mm wide border to give a tripple matt effect

Adding the frame

I cut a sheet of regular corrugated card to frame the background whilst leaving a thin matt of the pink under frame showing

To allow the corrugations to show through I randomly tore sections of the card topping paper away

When happy with the random design I painted the entire frame in a few layers of white gesso

Then mounted this frame onto the background adding another layer of dimension and visual interest

Adding the detail; Floral elements

I scrunch sprayed a piece of loose weave muslin fabric in bamboo green radiant rain spray mist as a textured background on which to arrange the floral elements

The card has a mix of handmade and shop brought paper flowers in shades of pink

The larger handmade flower is assembled from interwoven layers of daisy punched petals, with the edges picked out lightly with Victorian velvet Tim Holtz distress ink and a centre of white stamens

Green frosted and pink stamens add smaller detail to the arrangement

I added larger pink frosted berries on a Chery lynn leaf die cut

Adding the detail; charm elements

The delicate little charm arrangement adds both movement and a touch of opulence

Centered around a heart topped brass key

I made three bead arrangements, two similar primarily of pearls, and one different based on a tear drop crystal

The whole arrangement was topped with a tiny pink bow from 3mm silk ribbon

Adding the detail; butterfly elements

I sprayed the blue fern swirly vine 4 chipboard element with the corresponding radiant rain bamboo spray mist allowing the droplest to show

I handmade a pink themed acetate using the ‘caught in crystal’ technique

Then stamped a kaisercraft butterfly onto the acetate side and cut it out, bending the wings for dimension and added black cotton thread antenea
